WANTED: An Authentic Christmas
Let's take this first day of
Hannukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, to shed some light on the startling American fear of Christmas. After all, it appears that even the US Capitol Christmas tree does not reference Christmas this year. It's like there's a quivering anxiety that a non-Christian could be offended to which I say, so what? There is nothing wrong with Judeo-Christian traditions, but it seems the best way to understand that is to spend
Christmas in Israel this year. Check out
Jerusalem's holiest church. Take a side trip to Bethlehem, or pray in
Nazareth. At the end of the day, America has some pretty awesome holiday lights, but the Holy Land has Jesus. Any traveler, regardless of race or creed, can rejoice in the
authentic Christmas experience this represents.
