St. Peter's Church was originally erected in 1654 and dedicated to St. Peter because it was in Jaffa that Peter, according to the Acts of the Apostles, 9:36-43, 10:1-4, raised Jesus's disciple Tabitha from the dead. The largest structure in Old Jaffa, St. Peter's is one of the icons of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
